ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (March 28, 2023) – Triumph Foods and United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Local 2 today welcomed a delegation from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to Triumph’s St. Joseph facility. UFCW Local 2 selected Triumph to host OSHA Assistant Secretary of Labor Douglas L. Parker for a tour of the facility to showcase Triumph’s safety record.

As part of its continued efforts to prioritize worker safety and health, OSHA visited Triumph Foods for the second time in the last year. In April 2022, OSHA Deputy Secretary Jim Frederick and a team of Department of Labor representatives visited the facility to learn from frontline Triumph team members about safety practices in the meat industry. The UFCW recommended Triumph to OSHA due to its record and continual improvement of worker safety during the pandemic.

“Worker health and safety has been a top priority at Triumph, which has made it a better place to work,” said UFCW Local 2 President Martin Rosas. “These are practices that can inform OSHA’s programs and policies – because we know they work, and they can improve the work that food processors do to feed our country.”

Triumph Foods has received several honors for workplace safety. Earlier this month, the North American Meat Institute recognized Triumph with the 2022 NAMI Worker Safety Recognition Award, the highest-ranking honor for safety, health and reduction of injury and illness in the meat and poultry industry, for the second year in a row.

In 2021, Triumph received the Safety Verified Certification through Matrix Clinical Solutions. That program, developed with Cleveland Clinic, demonstrates the company’s commitment to limiting the impact of COVID-19 within its facility.

“We are honored that our safety-first culture continues to be recognized,” said Triumph Foods President and Chief Executive Officer Matt England. “Our team members work together to create the safest environment to produce the highest quality pork products, and we are honored to be able to show Assistant Secretary Parker a model for how industry and labor can work together to feed a growing world.”
